What Y level do diamonds spawn at in 1.21?

Diamond ore generates from Y -64 to Y 16. The best level to mine is around Y -59 due to the triangle distribution that concentrates ore toward the bottom of the range.

What is the best Y level for iron?

Iron has middle band Y -24 to 56. A common target is Y 15 to 25. Iron also has upper (80–384) and small (-64–72) bands.

What Y is best for ancient debris?

Ancient debris generates in the Nether from Y 8 to 119. Y 15 is often recommended to intersect both the triangle band (8–24) and the uniform band (8–119).

Where does emerald spawn?

Emerald ore only spawns in mountain biomes, from Y -16 to 480 with triangle distribution. In practice it often appears around Y 90–232 in those biomes.

How to Use This Chart

Pick the ore you want and mine at the “Best Y” level (or anywhere in the Min–Max range if no best is given). For triangle ores, the best Y is near the center of the range; for uniform ores, any Y in the range is equally likely. Combine with the Ore Finder to see vein centers for your seed and mine toward the nearest one.
