The Nether's Backbone

The Nether Fortress is the most critical structure in the Nether. Without it, you cannot get Blaze Rods to reach the End, and you cannot find Wither Skeleton Skulls to spawn the Wither.

Surviving the Blaze Spawner

Blaze spawners are usually located on exposed balconies. Bring fire resistance potions! Blazes are easy to handle if you can't be burned, allowing you to quickly farm the rods needed for brewing and eyes of ender.

The Wither Skeleton Hunt

Wither Skeletons only spawn within the bounding box of a fortress. To increase spawn rates, clear out a large area of netherrack around the crossroads. This is the fastest way to get the three skulls needed for the Wither boss.
